Team Fortress 2 sniper update to include . . . a spy update?

Looks like Valve is going to make us very happy very soon with the next major Team Fortress 2 update. We thought the unlockable items would be all about the Sniper class. As it turns out the Spy class will be getting some new items of its own.

The official TF2 web site has posted up the first two items that Spy players will get to use. One is the "Dead Ringer" Spy Watch. If you get hit with a non-lethal attack the watch will cloak you for eight seconds while also generating a visual of your dead corpse. The second unlockable is the "Cloak and Dagger" Spy Watch. If you wear it and stand still, your cloak doesn't run out of energy and enables Spy players to stay invisible permanently (nice for campers).

The next Team Fortress 2 update is due out soon and will include at least two new items for the Sniper class, the new Payload Race game mode and two new Arena maps.

I'm almost always a Spy in TF2. I was kind of horrified by the Razorback but if these Spy updates aren't a joke, this is really cool. I thought there'd be a different type of blade or silenced pistol as well, but here's hoping. Posted at 7:25PM on May 15th 2009 by James Egan
