For the past several months we have been reporting on the status of Tropico 3, the next game in the island dictator sim series from developer Haemimont Games and publisher Kalypso Media. Today we were send a press release confirming that the game will be coming to the US with a release sometime in September.

As we have reported before Tropico 3 will be based on the premise of the original Tropico game (developed by the now defunct Poptop Software) where you are the head of an banana republic in the Caribbean. The choice: Do you become a power-mad dictator or a more refined statesman to your people? Naturally each has its advantages and disadvantages . . . .
