Sorry . . . no co-op mode for Modern Warfare 2

It's safe to say that no matter what, Modern Warfare 2 is going to sell tons of copies for developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision. However, info from the first major media preview of the game (from the latest print Game Informer magazine, natch) indicates that folks who liked the co-op campaign in Call of Duty: World at War will be disappointed.

In short, Gamespot informs us that the article states that co-op play for Modern Warfare 2 isn't available. It quotes Infinity Ward's COO Jason West as saying, "We did a whole lot of co-op stuff early on that we were interested in, and it didn't work with the story at all." The storyline, by the way, takes place a number of years after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and features the return of one of that game's two playable character "Soap" MacTavish (who gets a promotion from sergeant to captain in the sequel)

I don't care as much about co-op.

Sure as hell going too be fun :)
I hope the campaign/single player won't be short like the 1st one(Call of Duty Modern warfare)

I for one,am totally gutted that theres no 'proper' Campaign Co-Op! It was a great feature in World at War,that i enjoy alot.I guess contrary to their belief,Infinity Ward just arnt as good as Tryarch,as they managed it(& with better multiplayer to boot).shame on you Infinty.or should i say Finite.Posted at 2:01PM on May 14th 2009 by SpartanEdge

Shame... I really did enjoy playing online with my mates in coop. I think those who don't care don't have mates...
It seems that Infinity either can't do or don't want to spend the time/effort/money on doing it which means they will place a product out that will be effectively less appealing in some areas to the previous one. It is a big shame... two steps forward and one backwards... why?
It would have been easy enough to add a few tweaks to the storyline (including opposition numbers for example) to accommodate more players in coop mode.Posted at 12:51PM on Jun 24th 2009 by 3rd time lucky
