Finding Easter Eggs in games is part of the fun in playing. However some developers take it even further and put Easter Eggs in the game's code. Such is the case in a recent patch update for Team Fortress 2, Valve's multiplayer shooter. The developer put in features in a new patch related to deleting items from a player's inventory. That lead some to believe Valve was trying to put in some RPG-like aspects in the game.
Well, some folks who dug deeper into the code apparently found that Valve is not above having some fun. According to a post on the official Steam forums they found this bit of code inside an update:
// TF2 MMO
"TF_MMO_LFG" "Looking For Group"
"TF_MMO_Quest1" "You must kill %s1 %s2 to complete this quest."
"TF_MMO_Monster1" "Boars"
"TF_MMO_Monster2" "Rats"
"TF_MMO_Monster3" "Bats"
"TF_MMO_Monster4" "Wolves"
"TF_MMO_Monster5" "Spiders"
Now all we need is some code for a dungeon raid and we will be all set.

Kinda funny since I remember seeing an LFG thread on their TF2 forums not too long ago. Think they saw it?Posted at 2:45PM on May 3rd 2009 by infernus

I'm betting this is from one of two things.
1) They knew how people would respond to the recent additions, and knew that people would bring up the idea of a TF2 MMO, and that there are people who like to dig through code for hidden stuff.
2) This is a joking response to the ideas of people thinking that its gonna be turned into some MMO, and so they planted this stuff there specifically so that said diggers would find it.Posted at 1:53PM on May 3rd 2009 by devilsei
