Rumor: Konami decides not to publish Six Days in Fallujah? [Update]

It's been one of the most talked about games on the Internet and now an unconfirmed report states that the military shooter Six Days in Fallujah no longer has a publisher. According to the Asian web site Asahi.com a Konami RP rep is quoted as saying, "After seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it."

The title, developed by North Carolina based Atomic Games, was the subject of criticism almost from the moment it was announced earlier this month. Many real veterans and families of those affected by the current Iraq war complained it was inappropriate to create a game based on the real 2004 battle of Fallujah (to be fair other veterans of the war had no such problems with the game). We will contact both Konami and Atomic Games to get confirmation of this story.

Update: When contacted a spokesperson for Atomic Games' parent company Destineer would not comment on the report but did say they will have a statement "very soon".
