Rail Simulator 2 announced

When Microsoft shut down their ACES Studio earlier this year as part of their cost-cutting moves, they also shut down their long-in-development railroad simulator game. However fans of that particular and very narrow game sub-genre have some good news as a UK based developer has announced a sequel to the EA published 2008 game simply called Rail Simulator.

The sequel, Rail Simulator 2: RailWorks, is being developed by a company called (we kid you not) RailSimulator.com. The sequel will have 13 locomotives, a mix of both real and fictional routes in the US, UK and Europe, over 50 scenarios, the ability to create new routes and add new content and more. According to the game's web site, Rail Simulator 2 will first be released as a Steam-distributed digital download sometime this June.
