Last April, game developer Timegate Studios settled a lawsuit with the ABC TV network over the use of the Section 8 name which Timegate has trademarked for use in its upcoming sci-fi shooter. Now Team Xbox is reporting that Timegate is engaged in another legal battle over the name, this time with movie studio Paramount Pictures.
Team Xbox reports that Timegate has sued Paramount, alledging that the movie studio is trying to steal the Section 8 name for an upcoming "interactive web series". The kicker is that Timegate claims it had meetings with Paramount to discuss "potential business ventures". In those meetings Timegate said it discussed and demoed the Section 8 game with movie studio reps. Paramount then alledgedly canceled future meetings with Timegate just a few days before they announced their plans for their Section 8 interactive web series. Paramount has not yet responded to the lawsuit. In the meantime the Section 8 game is due for release sometime this fall via Southpeak Games.
