Six Days in Fallujah revealed

Konami's games have mostly been made by its Japanese arm but the publisher has been working more and more with Western developers. Today the Los Angeles Times web site revealed that Konami will be publishing Six Days in Fallujah, a third person tactical military shooter that is based on the real 2004 battle in the current war in Iraq that caused the deaths of 1,200 insurgents and 38 US soliders.

The game itself is being developed by Atomic Games which recently announced its relaunch after being spun off by Destineer. The game was developed with the help of real US Marines who provided video, photos and diaries of the actual battle. Creating a game based on a recent military event in a war that is still ongoing might be considered contravserial but Atomic Games president Peter Tamte is quoted as saying, "For us, the challenge was how do you present the horrors of war in a game that is also entertaining, but also gives people insight into a historical situation in a way that only a video game can provide? Our goal is to give people that insight, of what it's like to be a Marine during that event, what it's like to be a civilian in the city and what it's like to be an insurgent." The game is due out sometime in 2010.
