Disney Interactive wants to expand to create games that are not just for kids. In 2008 they released the "M" rated shooter Turok and the off-road racing game Pure. Earlier this month they announced their plans for Split/Second, an arcade racing game that's very much in the style of the first Burnout games.

This week the first in-game screenshots of Split/Second were released, showing off the gameplay we can expect from this Black Rock Studios developed title. Basically you are racing in a near-future TV show where the drivers not only push the accelerator down but also can trigger events like the above explosion to knock out other cars. The game is currently scheduled for a early 2010 release date.
