The last full week in March brings a number of major PC retail and downloadable titles down the pike along with a big downloadable expansion:
Stormrise -
The Creative Assembly releases this original sci-fi RTS game for publisher
Sega featuring battles on a future Earth between technological and biological-themed factions. If you just have Windows XP and DirectX9 installed, you can ignore this game; it's one of the very few that's a Windows Vista-DirectX10 exclusive.
Wheelman: Vin Diesel's action-driving game from
Midway was in danger of being left behind at the starting line due to its publisher's recent bankruptcy but
Ubisoft has stepped in to help release this long-in-development title.
Battleforge:
Electronic Arts launches this combo of fantasy RTS game with collectable card gameplay. The title, from EA's
Phenomic studio, is multiplayer oriented and will feature ways to purchase new cards via downloadable expansions.
Wanted: Weapons of Fate: Developer
GRIN has the first of its three planned games released to stores this week as this title continues the storyline from 2008's high-powered action flick. PC owners are supposed to get a different and highly violent ending; we will see if that turns out to be true.
The Last Remnant -
Square Enix's latest fantasy RPG game gets ported over to the PC after being released for the Xbox 360 last fall. The Unreal Engine 3 based game has a few features exclusive to the PC including an new faster Turbo gameplay mode and the ability to switch between Japanese and English voiceovers.
Dark Sector: A year after its release on consoles,
Digital Extremes' near-future third person action game finally shows up on the PC via publisher
Aspyr. The game has you controlling a genetically modified here with a particularly nasty three-bladed circular weapon.
Death Track: Resurrection: Driving games with guns; it's been done before and it's being done again in this Russian PC game import from
1C Company. The US version of the game is being handled by
Aspyr and features a near-future world of combat racing full of power ups, weapons and stuff going "Boom".
Wallace And Gromit's Grand Adventures -
Fright of the Bumblebees:
Telltale Games launches the first of four planned downloadable episodes for their latest adventure game series. This time the subject is Wallace and Gromit, stars of the Academy Award-winning animated short subjects.
Fallout 3: The Pitt:
Bethesda Softworks will release their second of three planned downloadable expansions for their hit RPG this week via
Games For Windows Live. This episode takes place within the main game's storyline and send your character away from Washington DC to Pittsburgh . . .but will he come back alive?
