Valve to rate Team Fortress 2 servers

Don't you hate it when you sign onto a multiplayer shooter online but find out it's full of players that turn out to be, well, jerks? Or maybe the server itself is unstable and can't stay online for more than a few seconds? Valve has your back, apparently, as a new entry on the Team Fortress 2 web site announces that they plan to start rating servers for their cartoony shooter.

According to Valve's Robin Walker, "After kicking around some proposals, we came up with a simple system built around the theory that player time on a server is a useful metric for how happy the player is with that server. It's game rules agnostic, and we can measure it on our steam backend entirely from steam client data, so servers can't interfere with it." he adds, "In short, servers that have lots of players joining & leaving rapidly will score badly. Servers that consistently have players join and stay on for long periods of time will score well" There's even a handy graph that shows how these servers are rated. Really bad scoring servers will be delisted from Team Fortress 2's server browser
