This week in PC games we get not one but two alternate history RTS titles along with the retail release of one of the biggest MMOs in the market:
World in Conflict: Soviet Assault: PC owners will be able to download this stand alone expansion pack to the terrific 2007 RTS game this week. It's set in the 1990s where the Cold War never ended and the Soviet Union stages a full scale invasion of the US. The expansion from developer
Massive Entertainment and publisher
Ubisoft adds six new single player missions on the Soviet end of things along with two new multilayer maps. If you don't have the original game you can also pick up
World in Conflict Complete in retail stores this week. it has both the original game and the expansion pack.
Codename Panzers: Cold War: This RTS title was supposed to have been released last year but the development team at Stormregion shut down along with its owner/publisher 10tacle. A new development team called
InnoGlow was formed to complete the game which will be released by
Atari this week. The game takes place during the 1950s where the Soviet Union stages an invasion of Europe (can't keep the CCCP down, it seems).
EVE Online: After being released for years as a digital download online title, developer
CCP has teamed up with publisher Atari to release this retail version of their popular space-based MMO. This retail version contains the original game and all the expansion including Apocrypha which will be released to current subscribers this week for free. The retail version adds 60 days of free game time as well as other extras.
The Maw: This digital download only title is the PC port of the acclaimed Xbox Live Arcade game from developer Twisted Pixel Studios. This platform action/adventure game is all about a creature named Frank and an even weirder creature name Maw that, well, eats things. Well, it eats everything actually.
