The many fans of Sins of a Solar Empire have been waiting a bit longer than they thought for Ironclad Games and Stardock to release the first of three planned "micro-expansions" for the acclaimed space strategy game. Today Stardock announced that Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment will finally be released via download on Stardock's Impulse service on February 11 for $9.99.
As we have previously reported, Entrenchment is all about upgrading the game's defensive units including bases that are designed to protect entire planets from attack. Ironclad plans to release two more of these micro-expansions this year. One will expand the game's diplomacy features while details on the third are being kept secret for now. In the meantime new screenshots from Entrenchment have been released and we have added them to our gallery.

Have they announced any campaigns, or story modes? That's what I'm hoping for since the SOTSO universe seems ripe for some epic storytelling.Posted at 12:34AM on Feb 2nd 2009 by Hawk

I doubt it will be out on that date. It was only announced that Beta 2 will be out maybe next week..Blair Frasier said this on the official forums:
Entrenchment won't be released until we've atleast had time to go through all the feedback on beta 2 and make appropriate changes and fixes. Since beta 2 isn't even out yet...Posted at 3:57AM on Jan 28th 2009 by thesh
