Announced last April, DC's Wildstorm comic book brand has finally set a date for the release of the Prototype comic book, based on the upcoming open world action game from developer Radical Entertainment and publisher Activision. The six-part mini-series will release its first issue this April.

The series will be co-written by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti with artwork by Darick Robertson, best known for his work on Transmetropolitan and the current super hero title The Boys. The story follows a set of New York City cops who are apparently tracking the shape-shifting main character. The first issue will have a variant cover by superstar artist Jim Lee (shown above).
