Will there be a third Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion?
Chatting with members of Atari's European team, the fan-run Neverwinter Nights Podcast revealed that discussions are going on for such an expansion pack. There's no word on who would develop the expansion but it's not a stretch to believe that Obsidian Entertainment, who created the original game and the first two expansions, is ready to make the third as well..

Unless this would be a relatively small scale project that would not hinder future developments on a potential full successor, I think there are too many deep-seated issues with the game engine to keep producing content for it. While I enjoy the NWN2 games, sometimes the engine and/or interface really get in the way and break the suspension of disbelief.
Looking at the progression of titles from Baldur's Gate to now, it seems like it's been one step forward, two steps back with regard to (re)playability.

I adored the main NWN2 campaign and though I've had fun with the expansions, they haven't captured the same essence. I guess I have to go with Enhance's suggestion that Obsidion should move on to NWN3 rather than try to keep NWN2 on life support.

Chat with them again and tell them to put the games on Steam, already! They said "in the coming weeks" almost a year ago :(Posted at 8:37AM on Jan 12th 2009 by Sokkratez
