Take note, adults. Kids have more to do than mourn the loss of free time due to homework and watch cartoons for hours every day. Sometimes their cartoon worlds become threatened by evil invaders, and the heroes on those shows aren't always capable of getting themselves out of jams. Nope, your kids have to do that. It's their job, and in FusionFall, the youth-centric MMO filled with Cartoon Network's most popular characters, work is quite fun indeed.
From there, options such as hairstyle and color, shoes, pants, shirt, height, skin color, and more can be chosen. Players will come across many unique outfits over the course of the game to constantly keep their characters unique in appearance. Vendors will sell clothing, of course, but players will also receive boxes that contain clothing items as quest rewards or dropped by enemies. Mix and match to set your avatar apart from the rest of the pack.

Since FusionFall is an introduction to the MMO genre for younger players, the first several minutes of gameplay consists of a tutorial that familiarizes players with basic controls such as walking, jumping, and strafing. New players should take a moment to marvel at FusionFall's comic book-like graphics, which truly resemble images taken directly from the glossy pages of graphic novels. Because of Planet Fusion's gooey influence, many parts of the world are hazed in a green mist, so much so that green to FusionFall is almost what brown was to the original Quake. But the emerald glow is appropriately ominous, and vibrant blues, reds, oranges, and yellows on structures and characters stand out nicely.
Much of FusionFall's combat doesn't include any cooldown times, which is a nice touch for the game's intended casual audience. Each character may equip two weapons which can be swapped at any time by pressing Tab. The best combo seems to be a blaster-type weapon for ranged damage, and a melee weapon when face-to-face encounters are a necessity.
Missions are typical MMO fare, with Cartoon Network NPCs tasking players with going to spot X and destroying Y monsters in order to retrieve some type of item. Completing quests and vanquishing monsters earns you cash with which to purchase new weapons, clothing and accessories. More importantly, you will gain experience to fill your Fusion meter. When the meter has reached certain levels, an NPC will ask you to dispatch a Fusion monster -- an iconic Cartoon Network character such as Dexter, a Powerpuff girl, or one of the "Numbuh" gang that has been corrupted by Planet Fusion.

I heard about this game while watching Clone Wars, actually seemed half way interesting, though I'm sure it's filled with annoying little kids.Posted at 2:58PM on Dec 26th 2008 by Alex
