Warner Bros. Interactive wants F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin fans to have a lot to check out over the holiday. That's the only reason we can see for sending out a whopping 35 new screenshots from the upcoming horror-themed shooter from developer Monolith. The new screenshots show a variety of scenes from the game, from rather static character visuals to creepy horror to simple but effective action shots with lots of blood spray.
While we could spotlight one of the scary and/or bloody new shots, we thought it would be interesting to focus on the screenshot shown above. Clearly this guy needs to get a little more sun. The graphical detail is certainly impressive and we can even see some faux movie posters for titles like "SnakeFist". Oh and the character is wearing a Shogo 2 t-shirt. That's a reference to the original Shogo: Mobile Armor Division game that Monolith made over 10 years ago. It was a a Japanese anime-themed FPS with both mech and on-foot scenes. It's still got a cult following with a number of fans (including this writer). Is this a hint that Monolith wants to make Shogo 2? Maybe one day....

Oh, and there were loads of references to Shogo in the original FEAR:
