As expected by many financial analysts, Take Two Interactive announced today a new agreement with the key members of their Rockstar Games label. The new agreement, which now expires on Jan. 31, 2012, keeps Sam Houser, Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies along with other members of the Grand Theft Auto teams at Take Two. In addition, the agreement includes the creation of a new company by members of Rockstar that will create new games that will be published by Take Two.The contract announcement was part of Take Two's new financial results for both its last quarter and its entire 2009 fiscal year which ended on Oct. 31. Revenues for the fourth quarter were $323.4 million compared to $292.6 million for the same period a year ago. Take Two has a loss of $15 million for the quarter compared to $7.1 million for the same period a year ago.
For the entire fiscal year, Take Two had a record $1.5375 billion in revenues compared to $981.8 million for the previous fiscal year. The company had a net profit of $97.1 million, also a record, compared to a net loss of $138.4 million for the same period a year ago. Because of the current economic downturn, Take Two has lowered its financial forcast for the next fiscal year, saying it will bring in between $1.1 billion and $1.25 billion in revenues. During their conference call following the release of their results, Take Two execs said that they have no plans to drastically cut costs, as other game publishers have been doing this year.
