GTA IV PC patch release update
The patch itself must go through Microsoft for approval (all games that support Games For Windows Live have to have that extra approval process) but Rockstar does expect that process to move swiftly. Here are some of the fixes they say will be in the patch:
-A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
-Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
-Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
-Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
-Overall savings to memory
-Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
-Multiplayer character settings are preserved
-Support for DirectInput controllers.
In addition sign-ups to Rockstar Games Social Club have supposedly been improved which should have cut down or elimiated the MMA10 error that Big Download encountered when we first tried to play the game.
Update: The first patch has now been released.

i hope they fix the memory leak and make it so pc's that arnt quad cores can play the game on a frame rate better then 15 fps as i have a pc that can play farcry 2 and crysis and then when i tryed this i get 15 fps its not even worth playing while its like this.
Many Thanks crackrucklesPosted at 9:07PM on Dec 10th 2008 by crackruckles
Is that why I'm so laggy with a single core? Because of the memory leak? I can also play Crysis and stuff, with decent framerate.

^ try getting a good spec computer, ur hardware suxPosted at 8:22PM on Dec 12th 2008 by Dan
I hate to say this, but if your all getting damn silly framerates, then that's your system. I am playing on these Specs:
AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4200+
3 GB RAM @800 MHz
nVidia GeForce 8400GS 256MB
and last but not least, Windows Vista Ultimate 64Bit with SP 1.
And I run sweet as a nut, even with the red in my video config, which has shocked me, so it is possble to play with a underspec system, I just manage to get the requirements and I can play flawless on here.
Hope this don't upset anyone lolPosted at 8:06AM on Dec 13th 2008 by Rihard S Coates
It can't be our systems. I have:
AMD Athlon dual core 4400+
2 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForrce 8800 GS 512MB
WIn XP 64Bit SP2
And my framerate sucks. It's so lacky it's impossible to play.

to fix alot of problems:
change catalyst settings as follows:
All to aplication mannaged
AA can set to 2 or 4 if you can spare the processing power
NO AAA turn off always all games
***** Set mip map to highest setting ********
catalyst AI low settingPosted at 4:31PM on Dec 13th 2008 by trusselo
Specs here are phenom X4 9950 BE (4*2.87ghz)
a measly 2 gb 667 dr2 on mobo m3a78
with hopeleslu outdated ati 1950 pro 512 mb. ati cat 8.12
Game runs good(20-30 fps on 1400*900 settings medium-high.

well.. when i play the screen starts to shaking and its like im drunk and dizzy... how to fix that problem? anyone knows maybe? thanksPosted at 7:18PM on Jan 24th 2009 by d0mi
i'm having similar frame rate issues myself
i'm running:
amd phenom x4 9600 quad core
8gb ddr 1066 ram
ati radeon hd 4800 - 1gb gddr3
windows vista ultimate 64 bit
etc.
needless to say, this system setup should be overkill, but even after applying the update patch for gta4, and getting the newest video drivers, i'm still having massive framerate issues even with all video settings turned ALL THE WAY DOWN.
This PC can play mass effect, crysis, and call of duty world at war all with the video settings maxed out and it looks fantastic.
If anyone has any fixes for this, I would greatly appreciate it.
