F.E.A.R. 2 banned in Australia because of (natch) violent content

Yesterday we reported that Monolith's upcoming horror shooter sequel F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin was denied classification by the Australian Classification Board and Classification Review Board, effectively banning the game from being sold. Now Games On Net is reporting the reason why the board banned the game and it's not a surprise.

Yes, F.E.A.R. 2's violent content was the reason for the ban. From visuals like blood stained walls and rooms to " explicit close range decapitations involving both human and mutant creatures" it appears that the amount of violent content was enough for the game to go over the requirements for the country's MA15+ rating, the highest rating a game can get in Australia. There's no word yet if Warner Bros. Interactive, the publisher of F.E.A.R. 2, will edit the game to allow it to be released.
