Surf the web while still in your PC game

Most PC gamers have to switch in between playing a title and doing other things like surf the Net. Now a company called GotGame has launched a new web browser called Rogue that it says can be used inside most current PC titles. The browser itself sits atop any game you might be playing and the YouTube video shown above shows how Rogue can be accessed easily from games like World of Warcraft, Battlefield 2 and Counter-Strike.

While this is a neat little program some gamers might feel that having even an in-game web browser might detract from playing a game. It remains to be seen if gamers will embrace such a program but its certainly something that bears watching in the months ahead.

Many games don't even allow for alt-tabbing, like Quake Wars. This is useful as long as it's compatible with web apps such as Meebo and it doesn't conflict with the Steam Community overlay.Posted at 7:44PM on Nov 23rd 2008 by Sokkratez

Okay, trying it out, it looks like it's built on FireFox. The default hotkeys are F9 through F12 which directly conflict with Fraps' default hotkeys, and they're uneditable as far as I can tell. there will be a new build released next week that will address the large CPU usage.

For now there is a Temp Fix to this problem: After you have started Rogue, open the task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and kill a process called GG_LIVE.exe. Afterwards Rogue will work almost flawlessly afterwards.

Hah. Oh, wow. I opened it up and it attached itself to my Zune software since it uses hardware acceleration. That was some lag :) Was able to kill GG_Live no problem, though. Folks should try it.Posted at 7:06PM on Dec 1st 2008 by Sokkratez
