Major Age of Conan free update released

This week Blizzard released their commercial expansion pack for World of Warcraft and CCP launched a free content update for EVE Online. Today Funcom said, "Us too," with the announcement of a major free content update for their fantasy MMO Age of Conan.

Funcom says the update is the largest since the game launched last May, adding the new outdoor area called Ymir's Pass to the game. New questions, a new dungeon, new monsters to kill and a new storyline are all a part of the Ymir's Pass free update. Funcom's press release states that two more dungeons for high level characters will be added to Age of Conan "soon".

I still don't know how blizzard gets away with it, while every other mmo uses subscription fees to cover what they're supposed to UPDATES, WoW goes, "I know your paying us $15 a month, and we make insane profits, but, your going to have to pay us another $60 dollars if you want updates!" If they want to go around doing that, they need to lower subscription costs, or have a Free-to-play area or SOMETHING to explain WHY they don't let you have updates for free.Posted at 11:08AM on Nov 14th 2008 by Sam

well:
1. Its not 65 its 40ish.
2. Its not an update its an EXPANSION, L2read.
3. I have never seen any expansion for free on any game.
4. If you don't have the expansion you can still play

Blizzard provides tons of free updates for wow you tool. The expansions are far bigger then a single area to explore, they add tons of content that drastically changes the game.

Look at EQ, it has had what 12 expansions that you had to pay for... plus free updates. Just because Blizzard is the most successful doesn't mean they have to provide free benefits.Posted at 8:40PM on Nov 14th 2008 by Magus
