First Merchants of Brooklyn screenshots get ahead

Last year a new San Diego game developer called Paleo Entertainment announced its presence, revealing that they had plans to release a CryEngine 2 based action game called Merchants of Brooklyn. This week the developer released the first media from the game and it's looking like it could be something special.

The first trailer and screenshots depict a game world with a cel-shaded art style and a highly violent world. The backstory tells the tale of an Earth in the year 3100 where you play a cloned Neanderthal fighter that competes in bloody gladiator style matches for the amusement of the upper class. The trailer depicts something we have never seen in a game before; pulling off an opponants head and then charging it up somehow to use it as a grenade. There's no word on a publisher or release date yet for the game.
