As it turned out, the US version of Sacred 2 will indeed have a DRM set up that is much different that the European version. CDV announced today that the US release, due out next week, will have a fairly innovative "Try Before You Buy" set-up. According to their press release, "....downloaded or purchased copies of the full game can be shared with friends and family, with these shared copies acting as full-featured demos for the duration of one calendar day." The game's single player campaign is completely unlocked and LAN multiplayer is also available during the one day trial. Once the one day trial period is over, people can either uninstall the game or purchase the full version via an online set-up.

Well sure, I'll pat them on the back for this but... what about the DRM that affects the main user? That is what I'm much more concerned about. Online activation on install? on play? activation limit? etc... Sounds like they are trying to sidestep the hard questions with this nice but ultimately frivolous feature.
