Ubisoft cancels plans for Heroes game

Way back in July 2007, Ubisoft eagerly announced plans to publish a PC-console game based on Heroes. The NBC TV series about people with extra-normal abilities was a huge pop culture hit at the time. The first season had solid writing, excellent plot twists and catchy phrases like "Save the cheerleader, save the world."

That was all before the show's second season, which got cut in half due to the screenwriter guild's strike, and this year's season which has gotten panned by critics and hit by low ratings. So it's perhaps not a surprise when MTV Multiplayer's site reports that an Ubisoft rep has confirmed "The rights to the 'Heroes' video game have reverted back to NBC Universal. Ubisoft will no longer produce a video game based on the TV series." As you can see on the right, Claire the cheerleader is not happy.
