It's not a surprise that Bethesda Softworks' long awaited RPG Fallout 3 has turned into a big hit. The developer-publisher has just announced that it has shipped a total of 4.7 million copies of the PC-PS3-Xbox 360 title (of course "shipped" is not the same thing as "sold").
In the UK, where the game went on sale last Friday, Fallout 3 quickly went up to the top of their sales charts for both total game sales as well as sales for each of the game's platforms (we should see how Fallout 3 did in the US top 10 list next week). In the meantime Japan will get their taste of the game when it ships on Dec. 4.

Well, yeah, Fallout 3 selling well isn't a shock but almost 5mil copies is much more impressive than I would have guessed.
