EA Casual merging with Sims label

In a further sign of Electronic Arts trying to save some much needed cash, our sister site GameDaily is reporting that the publisher has decided to consolidate two of their game divisions. The EA Casual brand will be merged with the company's Sims brand in this new move, forming a new Sims and Casual brand (the other two brands, EA Sports and EA Games, are not affected).

The merger of the two brands has also resulted in the departure of Kathy Vrabeck, the president of the EA Casual brand, who has resigned from the company. Rod Humble, who was just named as the head of EA's Sims brand just a month ago, will now be the head of the new combined EA Casual and Sims brand. It's currently unknown if any layoffs are planned as a result of the merger of the two brands.
