Big Download got Julia Vorotynzeva, the PR manager of SkyFallen Entertainment, to tell us more about Death Track: Resurrection including when US gamers can expect a release of the full game in our neck of the woods. You can download a playable demo of the game right now at Big Download.
First how did the idea for the game come about?
Practically all the members of our team are big fans of the original Deathtrack, which was released back in 1989. We wanted to create a sequel with the same feeling and atmosphere as the original game, but of course make it up to date on a modern technological level. We were very excited when our publisher managed to receive intellectual property rights for the title, and were bestowed with the honor of remaking it.
What can you tell us about the back story for the game?
Just like it was in the original Deathtrack, the game takes part in the not distant future, which turns out to be not so bright. The radiation level is dangerously high, while corrupt and cruel men attempt to claim fame in a fierce and frightful tournament to entertain the post-apocalyptic masses. All this leads to thrilling races as the attention of the whole world is chained to the show.
The plot of the game is a peculiar detective story, it starts with our main character - a young and little known driver who dreams about obtaining world fame and money like his fellow racers. However, right after the first stage of the competition, it turns out that some participants of the race seem to be violating the rules even when there are no rules. Drivers are dying one by one due to various nonsensical accidents. But the sponsors of the show are quite content – the drama heats the interest of the audience, so nothing is going to stop the races from happening.

What sort of tracks can we expect to see in the final version?
All the races in Death Track: Resurrection are held in the most famous cities of the world, which were destroyed and neglected after the nuclear holocaust. We prepared a fascinating tour for our players, including Paris, New York, Moscow, San Diego, Prague, Istanbul, Vatican, Tokyo, Bangkok and London. A lot of attention was paid to the tracks' design: our aim was to make them not only realistic and recognizable, but also vivid and handsome. If you take the time to look at the atmosphere surrounding the races, you'll see our designers have managed to perform that perfectly!
There are a total of ten ring tracks for Scenario, Tournament, Challenge, and Quick race modes, plus four more special tracks for Drag race mode. Scenario is a series of laps in which you need to place in order for the race to proceed. In Tournament you always have to place first in order to continue. Challenge is a special mode when the player has to complete special quests, for example: kill a specific opponent, perform a complicated trick or gather certain amount of bonuses. This is the most difficult type of racing, which becomes available after finishing Scenario. Finally, in Quick race you can choose the track, amount of opponents, weapons, respawn and other bonuses you desire.
