Fallout 3 found to contain SecuROM

You may remember less than a month ago that Bethesda Softworks PR head Pete Hines proudly stated that as far as DRM in the PC version of Fallout 3 "we basically don't do any--we do the mildest form possible." Well as it turned out that's not really true. As reported on the game's official message boards, the PC version does in fact install SecuROM software.

That apparently has lead to issues with some that have tried to install the game. According to another post on the message board people who are having such issues (we had none when we installed the game for our review) they have some workaround instructions and a link to the SecuROM web site where a replacement launch is available. In the meantime we plan to contact Bethsoft to ask what happened with adding SecuROM to the game.
