Epic Games VP calls EA buyout rumors "rubbish"

The latest rumor flying through the Interweb tubes this weekend is that Electronic Arts, now that their buyout plan for Take Two Interactive has fallen through, is looking to buy out other game developers. Gameguru.in claims through unnamed sources that EA is looking to buy Epic Games, in part because they want to use their Unreal Engine business.

Epic, of course, has licensed the Unreal Engine to EA for projects like Army of Two and Medal of Honor Airborne and just signed a publishing deal with EA for a game to be designed by their satellite company People Can Fly. But an actual buyout of Epic by EA? Big Download contacted Epic vice-president Mark Rein who gave us a one word answer on this new rumor: "Rubbish."
