It's never a good sign when a game that's been known to be in development for months has just gotten its first official press release from its publisher. Today Eidos announced its plans to release Shellshock 2: Blood Trails, a quasi-sequel to their 2004 Vietnam War themed shooter Shellshock: Nam 67. While the first game was developed by Killzone creators Guerrilla Games this sequel was created by UK based Rebellion.
Shellshock 2 will take more of a horror theme this time out as the story follows the survivor of a special ops team in Vietnam that was sent into the jungle to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a plane that carried a top-secret cargo. The game is currently scheduled for a Christmas 2008 release date but the big question is whether the sequel will be as bad as the original.
