3D Realms' Xbox Live Arcade version of their 1996 first person shooter Duke Nukem 3D has apparently become a success. While specific sales numbers have not been revealed, the 3D Realms web site states that the response has been "far greater than we had thought it would be." If for some reason you haven't played the original PC version, 3D Realms is now selling the original boxed PC DOS game at a new price.Previously sold for $19.95, the PC DOS version is now for sale via the 3D Realms store for $10. This is the Atomic Edition verison which contains the original game and the Plutonium expansion pack. Keep in mind that this version will be physically mailed to you; for some reason 3D Realms doesn't offer a downloadable version of the game. Also this is the original DOS version which means you might have to use another program to get it to run on Windows XP or Vista.

FUDGE! If I had known about this I wouldn't have wasted my money on the XBLA version last week. That version is competent with some neat new features but nothing compares to booting up my old DOS machine for some nostalgic gaming sessions. I might just have to buy this yet again along with Shadow Warrior and Death Rally. Nothing quite like getting the original packing with vintage games too.
