It looks like that "gone gold" announcement from developer Egosoft for their latest space trading-combat game X3: Terran Conflict could have been a tad premature. About two weeks ago the developer announced the game was done and would be released on October 3 in retail stores via publisher Deep Silver, with a digital download release via Valve's Steam service on September 25.
However the official Egosoft web site has revealed that "due to unforeseen delays in the production process" they have pushed the game's retail release back one week to October 10. In addition, Steam's web site is now showing an "October" release date for the game on their service

The game has a tutorial built into it. You select Simulator from the menu and it should take you to combat training then once you complete that you have two more senarios you can try out. Also once you are in the game there should be, tool helps, for pretty much everything you do. The computer will tell you when you have new messages and you just have to read them as you get them. For the love of God please tell me that it will ship with a tutorial! I bought X3 off of Steam the other week and I want my money back. I fiddled with buttons and menus for and hour and couldn't make heads or tales of WTF was going on.
