Microsoft launched its Windows Vista OS about 20 months ago but the next version of Windows (at the moment it's only being called Windows 7) is already underway with a tentative release date in January 2010. Early builds of the OS have been sent out to testers and the web site ThinkNext claims to have a copy with lots of pictures of its various features.
One of these supposed features is shown above where PC games could be automatically updated with their newest patch in the OS (although you will still have the option of doing any updates manually). While the screenshot seems real there's no guarantee that such a feature will actually show up in the final shipping project so take this with a little grain of salt for now.

^ Windows7 is going to slip and as with all previous operating systems (MS or not) it will be buggy and unstable for the first year or so after release. I like where they are going with it but I'll stick with my nice stable Vista x64 until Windows7 gets ironed out.

Man that would be really helpful.
But isn't it a bit contradictory of Microsoft to be pushing Vista so hard with a new marketing campaign and then release Windows 7 a year or so later? Doesn't make much sense and it already feels like Vista was useless.Posted at 7:31AM on Sep 23rd 2008 by Hashbrown Hunter
