Crysis Warhead DRM set-up explained; MyCrysis.com launched

As we mentioned in our review of Crysis Warhead, the game contains a DRM set-up that allows five activations of the Crytek-Electronic Arts first person shooter for every copy of the game. The Crytek-run Crymod web site now has more info on this set-up including a statement from Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli who has pretty much complained to anyone who has talked with him about the massive piracy that got hold of the 2007 released Crysis.

In his statement, Yerli writes, "We realize that copy protection and piracy is a very emotional and hotly debated topic. It is very hard to find a solution that fits both our needs. We need to make an effort to limit piracy but we do not want to limit the experience of our fans." While Crysis Warhead has five activations per copy, the multiplayer game Crysis Wars (which is on a separate disk and install) has no such limit but it does require the game to be unlocked when you first start playing online. LAN play can be handled without the need to sign online. Yerli adds,"If there is something you feel we could improve, please tell us what and why and we will do our best to listen to you."

On a related note, Crytek has also launched their new community site MyCrisis.com which will be the developer's site for anything Crysis related (Crymod is specifically for mod support).
