Grand Theft Auto IV PC system requirements revealed?
Are these the correct numbers? They are pretty bare bones but Microsoft's Games For Windows program does require games that have the logo reveal certain hardware requirements to Microsoft so we are betting these are accurate. So without anymore waiting here they are:
OS: Windows XP SP2
Processor: Dual core processor (Intel Pentium D or better)
RAM: 2GB
Hard Drive: 18GB free hard disk space
Video Card: 512MB Direct3D 10 compatible video card or Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader
Drive: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive

Sorry... 18GB!?!?!Posted at 7:19AM on Sep 14th 2008 by Raheem
The 18GB might be to give it enough room to operate. I mean.. if you only had about 10gig left and tried to install it; I can't imagine things working too well.Posted at 9:18AM on Sep 14th 2008 by Haggard (Free Mr.ESC!)
well I feel outdated now with it calling for a duel core processor I still have a single core one. I guess its time to finally start looking at upgrading even though I don't really want this game for PC. But it was kinda a shock to my system to see duel core required. I have been spoiled by world of warcraft for too long. :DPosted at 9:55AM on Sep 14th 2008 by shoan
^ This isn't the first dual core requirement we've seen. Considering that dual cores hit the mainstream a few years ago, it isn't too surprising to start seeing it as a requirement for gaming. I do think that developers could do a better job of scaling games to older hardware though like Blizzard and Stardock do. I love being able to play SoaSE on my old laptop.
18gb is pretty impressive though. I suspect that the game world will Stream in like silk during play though so I guess I don't really mind. Of course I have 800gb+ free so it isn't like space is an issue ATM anyway. :P

i have no idea what all that crap means.Posted at 5:10PM on Nov 30th 2008 by guy who wants gta IV
Holy @#?*...18 GB? that's obnoxious! Luckily I'm getting a new hard drive for X-mas, and 4 GB of memory is going to help.
I feel sorry for all you guys with laptops, this game is just NOT designed to work with one. On the other hand, my 9800GTX+ is going to handle this quite nicely with its 1.2GB of memory, hehehe :)Posted at 11:39PM on Dec 2nd 2008 by Some Guy
It does work on a 8600 GT, but with low settings.
If you set it on 800 by 600 in low settings it works like a charm.
But it isn't really pretty.Posted at 8:32AM on Dec 7th 2008 by surething
Tell me, do you guy's think a amd athlon 64x 3500+ would run this game, and a leadteck g-force 6600td 256mb and 1gb DDR400 ram?????
