Fallout 3 to be edited worldwide to eliminate real world drug references

Several weeks ago we reported that Bethesda Softworks would edit their upcoming post-apocalypse RPG Fallout 3 so it could be sold in Australia. Now Edge Online is reporting that those changes to the Australian version will in fact be made for all copies of the game sold throughtout the world.

According to Bethesda Softworks' PR guy Pete Hines, "We want to make sure folks understand that the Australian version of Fallout 3 is identical to both the UK and North American versions in every way, on every platform." The edits were to eliminate real world drug references in the game with more fictional names. Hines stated, "To avoid confusion among people in different territories, we decided to make those substitutions in all versions of the game, in all territories."
