Don't expect a Gears of War 2 PC port
When Epic Games decided to do a PC port of their 2006 Xbox 360 mega seller Gears of War they decided to go all out with support for DirectX10, Games for Windows Live support, an all new single player mission and new multiplayer maps and modes that the Xbox 360 owners would never get access to. However, the game's release in 2007 was a bit of a bust with sales on the low side.
So it's no shock that Epic designer Cliff Bleszinsk has been quoted by IGN in a new Q&A as saying, "Gears of War is a great franchise first and foremost for Xbox 360, and therefore we're focusing on that platform for Gears of War 2. We've decided we're not going to do a PC version this time around." Epic is not abandoning the PC platform; they are working on a PC game for Electronic Arts with their partners at People Can Fly

I found GoW on PC great, the extra content was a blast, the graphics were brilliant and I played it co-op online the whole way through with a mate over GFW Live with no problems - so I'll be disappointed the sequel won't make it across
I guess it all comes down to money, GoW on PC simply didn't sell... oh wellPosted at 5:07AM on Aug 31st 2008 by Halwende

That just takes the piss out of people like me who are map developers. I swear, I have bought every Unreal Engine 3 game that supports Unreal Ed 3 up to this date - and made maps for them. Now I'm just pissed. Posted at 5:14AM on Oct 27th 2008 by Adam Cornforth

All accounts that I heard said that the Gears PC port was mostly trash. This isn't surprising given their shoddy support for the first port as well as their recent comments in regard to PC gaming.Posted at 8:03PM on Aug 30th 2008 by Sokkratez
