Blizzard may be putting most of its energies into Blizzcon but this week's Games Convention in Germany was apparently a way for the developer to release a batch of new screenshots for Diablo III, the upcoming and long awaited action-RPG sequel.
As you can see from the new shots, the visuals have that more colorful (some might even say cartoony) art style that has some fans of the first two Diablo games up in arms. Those folks have to get use to it as the game's lead designer Jay Wilson has already stated they are sticking with this style, mostly for gameplay reasons. Meanwhile the game's release date is still "when it's done."

I guess I'm getting used to the art style. Even if it contrasts with the Diablo atmosphere it is still very beautiful. I want to know what they are doing to update the gameplay though. That is the one thing I WANT to see changed with the series. Personally, I want a deeper RPG experience as loot lust and click-fest combat don't do much for me. I can't say that the previous iterations in the franchise held my attention for long.
