Eidos's parent company
SCi revealed
in a recent financial report that they would be working on a Batman game but now comes word that the new print issue of Game Informer magazine will have the first info on this new title,
Batman: Arkham Asylum. The third person action game will not be based on the terrific graphic novel of the same name but will have an original story of Batman facing off against his Rogue's Gallery of villains in Gotham City's center for the criminally insane.
A post on the
NeoGAF forums has a lot more info culled from the Game Informer article, including the fact that it will use Unreal Engine 3 as its graphics basis and will be developed by UK based Rocksteady Studios. Since their only credit before now is the poorly received 2006 shooter
Urban Chaos we will have some doubts as to the quality of the title until we get more info.
God damn, we don't need any more cash-in licensed games. Between this one, the EA dark knight game, and lego batman there are THREE F*CKING BATMAN GAMES IN THE WORKS. 4 if you count DC vs MK. Give the damn licenses a rest. Release 1 quality one every few years and maybe I'll care but I find myself so burnt out on all these comic/movie cash-ins that I ignore them all regardless of quality or property.
