One of our most anticipated PC games is Space Siege, the sci-fi action-RPG from Gas Powered Games, a developer that is one of the most respected in the industry. However there now seems to be some concerns about the game; specifically the lack of promotion and hype before the game's release. By the way according to most online retailers, Space Siege should ship to stores this week.
Space Siege's publisher, Sega, seems to have almost forgotten they are even handling the game's release. Yes, a demo of the title was released but there's been no "gone gold" announcement even indicating that development of the game has been completed. Even Gas Powered's fans are wondering what's going on with the promotion of the title. At the developer's official forums, one poster wrote, "With only a week to go before the launch, I amazed that there is no hype around this game. Very few people are talking about it, and the forums are all very quiet, especially the official ones. Why are staff not talking here, getting people excited?". Indeed there's been more news lately on Gas Powered's Demigod title, a game that isn't scheduled for release until February 2009.

I was stoked for this game til I played the demo. Now? Not so much.Posted at 10:04PM on Aug 10th 2008 by eznark

The demo left a bad impression on me. It's doubtful that I will be getting Space Siege.Posted at 12:13AM on Aug 11th 2008 by Einhanderkiller

This very much echo's my own sentient on the topic. I don't really know who is at fault here but it is quite a shame because it is coming across that they are not hyping the game because they don't think it is very good. I played the demo and though I wasn't blown away, I also did have fun with it. What I, as a consumer, need right now is to hear a little hype talking it up and convincing me to pick up the game. If they best they can do to promote the game is to have the owner of the development house describe the game as 'popcorn' in an online video and release a 20 minute demo, then that doesn't bode well for the end product.
