Epic Games: Gears for War PC got a bad rap
While all of that is true we have to say that the Games for Windows Live features, some of which you had to pay for until just recently, were part of the reason why Gears of War for the PC may have gotten some lower scores. Also, the fact that PC owners still had to wait a full year to play the game is always a factor, no matter how much new content you might have put into the game.

It's a bit foolish to compare review scores. Many of those reviewers were probably having to go through the game a second time around to review it. Even if it was objectively better, subjective human experience is going to play its part.Posted at 12:53AM on Aug 10th 2008 by paralipsis

PC gamers are a slightly difference audience than xbox gamers. IMO we have higher expectations about what to expect from gameplay and frankly Gears was a bit of a one trick pony. What it did, it did well but it never really went beyond that. I appreciate that the PC version is the definitive version of the game but it also came a full year late too.
