Paradox Interactive has announced a final ship date for Dark Horizon, their upcoming space combat game from developer Quazar Studios. The publisher revealed that the game will ship out in the US on September 23 with a European launch on September 26. The game will be released both in retail stores and via the Gamersgate download service.
As we have reported previously, Dark Horizon is set in the same universe as Quazar's last title Tarr Chronicles, which was released by CDV in 2007. Dark Horizon will have 22 single player space combat missions with some RPG elements in a storyline where apparently an alien race with a massive fleet is about to destroy the universe. There's no word yet if a demo for the game will be released.

Oh, more twitch games, yay. I wish somebody would make a good space MMO not based on Star Wars, etc. All we've got now is that EVE garbage.Posted at 12:52PM on Aug 5th 2008 by psycros

^ Earth and Beyond was fun... for the 8 months it was live. :P Honestly, I was sorry to see it shuttered.
Give me Privateer Online and I'll buy a lifetime subscription though.

I don't know much about the game yet but just the fact that it is a space sim has propelled this one to the top of my wishlist. Any word if it will support force feedback joystiqs (joysticks) yet? I have no idea if my old Logitech stick will even work in Vista but I'm more than willing to try it out.
edit: Shit. I just looked up review scores on Tarr Chronicles and decided I better wait for a review or two before buying Dark Horizons.
