Capcom: Sales of PC Devil May Cry 4 "not doing as well as I would like"
Svensson adds that he is trying to get more of Capcom's PC games to be made available via digital distribution, saying "I have a presentation I'm making shortly that I'm hoping will make that approach something we do with all of our PC content, even those developed in Japan, but no promises. It might not happen." The publisher has several games for the PC in the works, including Dark Void, Bionic Commando, Street Fighter IV and our favorite title Age of Booty.

^ That is a good point. I'm sure they would have had many more impulse purchases if it were available on Steam and it might have helped a bit against the piracy too.
Another problem is that this just isn't a few PC centric game. A gamepad is pretty much mandatory and PC gamers don't have much point of reference w/ DMC or even this type of brawler gameplay to begin with. They can't really expect PC gamers to just jump on it without hesitation.
They also have their minimal marketing to blame too. I had forgotten that a PC port existed until this story came out so I just picked it up off GoGamer.

I'm shocked that it didn't release on Steam from day one. DMC3 is already on there along with Capcom's Lost Colony. There isn't even a mention of DMC4 in the upcoming list. If this game hit steam and got bundled with DMC3, I'd totally pick up the package without a second thought.Posted at 11:12AM on Aug 1st 2008 by Steven Wong

If they had made it available on Steam, I may have found it more tempting but, as it is, I'm just tired of buying PC games and having to go through the installation process.Posted at 9:56AM on Aug 1st 2008 by Veko
