Jordan Mechner created the original Prince of Persia game back in 1989 and it quickly became one of the most popular and acclaimed action titles ever made thanks to some terrific puzzle gameplay and impressive animation. Mechner was involved in the making of the Ubisoft revival Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time but since then he has been working on getting a movie version of Prince of Persia produced. The movie version is finally going into production for a summer 2009 release but at a San Diego Comic-Con panel on the movie, Mechner revealed that he is working to revive his very first game, Karateka. Gamasutra reports that the revival is indeed in the form of a game with Mechner saying, "It's a project I'm going to be involved in. I can safely say it's not going to be in the way you expect." Karateka was first released in 1984; there's no further word on how this revival will be handled.

Excelent! I used to love that game on my Atari 800XL. I hope they do a job as good as they did with PoP The Sands of Time.Posted at 3:59PM on Jul 26th 2008 by fco
