Just like Sony Online did with DC Universe Online, Electronic Arts decided to bypass E3 when it came to showing off their upcoming PC fantasy RTS game Battleforge. Instead EA decided to show a playable version of the game at the San Diego Comic-Con. IGN has some hands-on impressions of the title on their site from the show.
While the impressions are interesting, there's also a bit of release date news buried at the very end of the article. Battleforge was originally announced as coming out this fall but according to IGN the game is now coming out in early 2009. While this is just speculation on our part it's possible that EA didn't want two major RTS games coming out this fall (it also has Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 due for release this autumn).
