Crysis Warhead to be sold for $29.99

IGN has posted up some hands-on impressions of Crysis Warhead, the upcoming stand alone continuation (don't call it a sequel) to Crytek's 2007 sci-fi first person shooter Crysis. While the preview is interesting the article buries its lead and has an interesting revelation at the end; namely the price.

The article states that Crysis Warhead will have a single player storyline that will be slightly shorter than the one in the original Crysis as well as unnamed multiplayer features. The result is that the game will be priced at $29.99, about $20 less than what the original Crysis was priced when it was released last fall. Will that make Crysis Warhead a more accessible game than the original? You decide.

I will not be buying this "stand alone continuation".

Crytek decided to cancel the next patch for Crysis to work on a this "continuation" to make some money. I can safely say I don't care about the story of Crysis at all. I bought the game for the multiplayer, and if Crytek is the kind of company that will stop fixing multiplayer problems just because they want to focus on their next game so they can bring in more money, I do not want to purchase their games. it's obvious what they did. Crysis was a very "raw" game and that's most of the reason not many people were able to run it well. warhead puts better caps on the game, tightens up the code and makes it run better all around. Plus since its still running on all the crysis technology and textures and stuff, just with an "alternate" plot line it makes sense to only sell it for $30.Posted at 11:10PM on Jul 8th 2008 by Sam

Wondering...

...If i buy Warhead, will it also update and
patch the original Crysis ?

This way it'll be a "paid for" -patch?
...and Adding an extra storyline.
(and the crysis team will be paid for
their patching work).

If the above is the case, i'll buy it,
if not, no more products from these
peeps.

As for patching, take an example from
Bohemia Interactive and Armed Assault.
I guess they've worked their *ss*s off
to get the game better and better.

Hmm, it's almost like an 'episodic content' release. Not that I particularly like episodic content, but what's important is that I don't dislike it either.

I bought Crysis (only after playing a pirated version and liking what I saw) but was a little disappointed with the story. I'm still up in the air on whether I'll buy this game or not.
