Guide to TF2 Pyro Achievements, Part 6

Glorious fire! You just love to burn things! We can't blame you, though. Nobody knows who you are, where you come from, or what your real gender even is, pyro, but we know that you sure love to set things on fire. Now that the higher ups have finally decided to give you some sweet new equipment, you must be pretty excited. But no! First you must complete some tasks, leaping through hoops before you get to purge the world in baptizing flames. Don't worry, though. We want to help you. We love your work. The pile of screaming, burning scouts? Exquisite. That's why we have crafted for you this very guide to ease your attempts to fulfill the strange objectives given to you. You have read the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth parts, so here is the sixth and final installment. Now you are ready to go and purge the world of flora, fauna, and anything else flammable.

Firefighter

Kill 500 enemies.

This one is done in a very similar fashion both farming and normally. To do it normally, just play a very offensive pyro. This achievement only requires you to kill 500 enemies, it doesn't specify how. Axe, flamethrower, shotgun, all are fair game for slaughtering your enemies. Good achievements to go for while getting this one are the Lumberjack and Clearcutter achievements, as well as Camp Fire.

To farm this, act much like you are farming the Hot On Your Heels achievement. Get your friends to rush you, and burn them alive. Backburner or flamethrower are both great for this achievement, thanks to the heavy damage at close range. You can also work on the many other kill achievements, like Clearcutter, Dance Dance Immolation, or OMGWTFBBQ.

Tip: Don't be cautious. This doesn't have to be done in a single life. Go hog wild and tear through the enemies.

Fire Chief

Kill 1000 enemies

As this achievement is just the bigger version of Firefighter, much of the same rules apply. For doing this normally, playing a defensive pyro is actually better than the offensive pyro I suggested for Firefighter. The reasoning is that while Firefighter is relatively easy to get while being an offensive pyro, being defensive will give you a better chance at racking up the kills necessary for this achievement. Just let them come to you and burn them all.

Since you've probably already gotten Clearcutter, Dance Dance Immolation, and OMGWTFBBQ by the time you start farming this achievement, here's some others that go well with it. Pyrotechnics, Dead Heat, Fire and Forget, and Makin' Bacon are all good to work on while doing this achievement, as they all require kills as well. Just rind away, and you'll eventually snag the achievement.

Tip: The flamethrower + axetinguisher combo is great for racking up kills. If you already have the axetinguisher, it's great for this achievement.

Attention Getter

Ignite 100 enemies with the flare gun.

The only achievement on this list that requires you to have done other achievements first, it's of reasonable difficulty. The flare gun isn't the killing power horse that the shotgun is, thanks to its weak initial damage and the burning damage that can easily be removed. It's also highly inaccurate. However, you must only ignite, not kill, so just have a go with it.

To farm this achievement, just have the opposing team be medics and start shooting them with the flare gun. They will heal each other and remove the flames, letting you torch them again. This way you can work on this achievement and they can work on Infernal Medicine if they do not have it already.

Tip: Get up close; it makes it impossible to miss.

Pyromancer

Do 1 million points of total fire damage.

Playing this normally and farming involve the exact same tactics. Burn fools. Possibly also torch them. Farming it is easier because they don't fight back, however. If you are farming this, having the enemy team all be heavies and rush at you directly is a great way to both rack up the kills and the burn damage. Burn damage also includes fire from the Backburner, so you also may have more luck using it to get this achievement thanks to the criticals. Don't forget the flare gun as well. Burn damage also means both initial and the gradual burning damage, so you can torch and run away, or keep up close and get the kill. This is sort of the culminating achievement.

Tip: Remember that the closer you are with the flamethrower, the more initial damage you deal.

Hot Potato

Reflect 100 projectiles with your compressed air blast.

This one is extremely easy to get in both normal play and farming. In normal play, hang around areas where demomen like to lob grenades. If you blast away the grenades, stick or otherwise, it counts as a reflection. You can also hang around soldiers or, if you are insane, attempt to reflect bullets. You'll probably get this achievement just through goofing off with the compressed air blast.

To farm this, just get a soldier to stand near an ammo box or dispenser and fire rockets at you. Just keep reflecting them. You'll get the achievement in no time flat, thanks to the soldier having a steady ammo supply. If you are lucky, you might even get the Hotshot achievement while you are at it if you reflect a critical and it kills the soldier.

Tip: All projectiles can be reflected. This includes bullets. It seems impossible, but it can be done.

Controlled Burn

Ignite 50 enemies capturing one of your control points.

The one is extremely easy if you are playing a defensive pyro. Just loiter around a control point and wait for an enemy to start capturing it. Leap onto the point and start torching him alive. If you are feeling particularly helpful, have a medic über you when you do so, netting him the Ubi Concordia achievement while you work on this one. Plus, you can't die! Sweet.

To farm this one, get two medics willing to be set on fire. Have one run onto the point, and torch him. Have him run back and the other medic run forward onto the point, and torch that medic. The healing will eliminate any flames, making it so you don't have to bother with respawning. Doing it this way will also net you the Next of Kindling achievement pretty quickly.

Tip: As always, you do not have to kill, merely set on fire. If you want, a flare gun works just as well, thanks to its range.
