Well it looks like the merger between Activision and Vivendi Games to form Activision Blizzard won't, in fact, be completely official by the end of June as both parties had previously predicted. Activision announced today that the company will now hold a special meeting of its shareholders to vote on the deal on Tuesday, July 8. The vote itself will be held at the Peninsula Hotel in Santa Monica, CA.
The press release gave no reason why Activision could not make the meeting by the end of June as previously planned. As we have reported earlier, both Activision and Vivendi Games made the decision to break away from the Entertainment Software Association and also not to attend E3 (which is being held at the LA Convention Center the week after the Activision shareholder meeting). There are still rumors of a major press event for the merged Activision Blizzard to be held that week somewhere in LA.
