Now 1C Company plans to move into the American market even more than they have in the past (in 2007 they a distribution of a number of their titles with Atari). On Thursday night the publisher held their second US press event and it was in a unique location; the Russian Consulate in San Francisco. People who enter the consulate are considered by law to be on Russian soil.
Amidst all of the food and vodka at the event, 1C Company made a number of new game announcements, including the first word on Theatre of War 2, the sequel to the 2007 released WWII RTS game. While the game was not in playable form at the event, they did show a brief gameplay trailer which showed off some impressive graphics. 1C Company emphasized that this game was a true simulation; for example a shot from a rifle will go as far as the real rifle bullet would have gone in real life. More features like fighting inside buildings will be added as well. Look for Theatre of War 2 to ship out by the end of the year. As they did with the original, Battlefront.com will offer the game to US players via download or mail-order and CDV will make the game available in retail stores.
1C Company also announced tbat they will enter into console development for the first time and showed off two of those games at the event. One is Captain Blood, a hack-and-slash action game set in the days of pirates along with full ship battles. That game will ship for both the Xbox 360 and PC later this year. The other game is IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, a console game entry in the long running WWII flying sim series. While just the arcade mode was shown at the event we were assured that IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey is in fact a true flying simulation, one of the first (if not the first) to be made for a console.. The game is due for release in the first half of 2009 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and DS consoles.
1C Company also announced that they have licensed Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 for game development and will use it to create a new off-road racing game for the PC and consoles. That title is still early in development and does not have a release date. 1C Company emphasized that a number of their PC games will have support for DirectX10 and other advanced features such as Nvidia's PhysX physics system.
Look for our hands-on impressions of the PC games shown at the event throughout the day today. For now check out the gallery for pictures taken during the gathering at the Russian Consulate.

Was any news released about Space Rangers 3? That by far has been the best game I have played from 1C.Posted at 2:13AM on Jun 7th 2008 by Jason
